McCoist not hopeful on deals

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has admitted he is unlikely to add to his squad ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Maribor.[LNB] McCoist had hoped to bolster his pool ahead of Wednesday night's signing deadline and had been linked with United States skipper Carlos Bocanegra.[LNB]There had also been attempts to broker a deal to recruit Alejandro Bedoya from Swedish side Orebro immediately after the player agreed a pre-contract to arrive in January.[LNB]But McCoist says he is now preparing to head into the play-off first leg in Slovenia with the players already at his disposal.[LNB]He said: "There is no update at all unfortunately. It looks like, at this moment in time, the boys who have travelled will be the boys who will be asked to do the job."[LNB]Attempts to land Bocanegra from St Etienne appear to be on the back-burner for now.[LNB]McCoist added: "We have got a game on Thursday night and that's what I'm focusing on.[LNB]"That's the immediate priority. It's a tough game for us and that's exactly where I'm training all my thoughts at the moment."[LNB]McCoist faces a defensive headache after skipper David Weir and Kyle Bartley both failed to travel.[LNB]But Lee McCulloch looks set to be involved after recovering from a knee injury.[LNB]McCoist said: "David Weir hasn't travelled but Lee McCulloch is back with us and looks as though he will be fit to be involved.[LNB]"Kyle Lafferty has travelled but, to be honest, I would be very surprised if he took part in the game. But we are very happy with the way he is progressing from his operation."
