McCoist has confidence in Boyd

The striker failed to find the back of the net in his last three outings for the Ibrox side as he continues to battle back to his best after a double hernia operation.[LNB]The fact he is within touching distance of his 100th SPL goal for Rangers means the mini-drought has been even more frustrating.[LNB]Boyd will have to wait another couple of weeks to crack that record as the focus turns to the cup competitions but McCoist has every faith in the hitman to come good again.[LNB]He said: "He will be fine, I genuinely don't worry about Boydy.[LNB]"It's amazing how many times this happens, not just to Boydy, it happens to players in all sorts of walks of life.[LNB]"They are so near to a particular record or target and it just takes them a little bit longer to get there than they would hope.[LNB]"That's the case with Boydy but the one thing that will never desert him is his ability to put the ball in the back of the net.[LNB]"Make no mistake about it, any opposition defence that plays against Boydy will know that and will know he is arguably the best in the business at doing that.[LNB]"It's just a matter of time before he starts hitting the net again."[LNB]Boyd famously grabbed five goals against Dundee United to break Henrik Larsson's record as the SPL's most prolific goalscorer.[LNB]But McCoist says Rangers can forget about another 7-1 win rout when both clubs meet in the Active Nation Scottish Cup quarter-final.[LNB]He added: "I would certainly bet against it being 7-1 on Sunday.[LNB]"In many ways it was a really strange game and it wasn't as comfortable as the scoreline would suggest."[LNB]However, Nicky Weaver fears his time in Scotland will be remembered simply for the night he lost seven goals to Rangers and he will be rooting for his former United team-mates to settle the score tomorrow.[LNB]The goalkeeper was outstanding during the six-month spell he spent at Tannadice last year but left to join Burnley on a low after humiliation at Ibrox in his penultimate game.[LNB]He said: "That night against Rangers was one of the lowest in my career.[LNB]"I'd had four or five put past me before but this was at a whole new level.[LNB]"I suppose I'll always be remembered as the guy who picked the ball out of the net seven times at Ibrox.[LNB]"I loved my time in Scotland but that is definitely one memory I want to forget.[LNB]"There were a few factors behind it. Craig Levein leaving was a massive thing for the team because a lot of them are young boys and losing a manager was a new experience for them."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
