McCoist favouring talks with EPL

But the former Ibrox star fears there would be too much opposition from clubs south of the border.[LNB]Bolton chairman Phil Gartside wants to see the introduction of a two-tier Premier League of 18 teams each, which would include Rangers and Celtic.[LNB]His proposal was not discussed when chairmen from England's top-flight met in London on Thursday but is expected to be on the agenda at the league's Annual General Meeting in June.[LNB]McCoist said: "I don't know an awful lot about it but certainly the concept looks interesting. It's worth talking about.[LNB]"But I would have to be honest and say there would probably be more negative reaction from down south than there would be positive.[LNB]"Some of the clubs down there might not like to see us come in and take their place.[LNB]"It's very early days in the proceedings but it's something that would interest you, to play against teams like that.[LNB]"The money aspect of things would also be very important."[LNB]McCoist would like to see a scenario whereby Rangers were included in a Premier League II but also had a team still competing in the SPL.[LNB]He said: "We haven't spoken about it at great length but my opinion is that would be ideal.[LNB]"I would hate us to lose the identity totally with the Scottish league and Scottish football.
