McCoist coy over Wilson move

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has refused to rule out a loan move for former defender Danny Wilson.

And the Ibrox boss says Carlos Cuellar - another ex-player - also remains a transfer target. Wilson quit the Scottish champions a year ago for Liverpool but has revealed he would consider a return to Glasgow and McCoist is also open to the idea of a short-term deal.

"That's something I wouldn't rule out," said the Rangers boss.

"Danny is a player we know well, he is a great talent and he will only get better. A part of me was disappointed to see him leave the club but at the same time I was delighted for him, he is doing well. He is a player that we like so I would rule nothing out."

Aston Villa defender Cuellar also remains firmly on the radar, although injury has delayed any deal so far.

McCoist added: "You know what I think of Carlos, I would be desperately keen to get Carlos but there are one or two other issues. His injury is coming along fine, there is no problem with that. It`s just the fact that he's not ready to play right now that would be a definite problem for us.

"He has been here before and he was terrific for us. I don't see any major obstacles in the way at all. The only thing we have a problem with is that we need someone to play sooner rather than later."

Rangers have obtained a work permit for United States international Alejandro Bedoya, who has already agreed a pre-contract to join in January, and will attempt to broker a deal with his club Orebro to bring him to Ibrox immediately.

Australian midfielder Matt McKay has agreed his switch from Brisbane Roar and will complete his move once work permit issues have been resolved. But McCoist concedes that Rangers may have to give up on their hopes of landing Roland Juhasz, with Anderlecht having been quoted as saying the deal is dead after failure to match their valuation of the player.

McCoist said: "If they say the deal is dead, then I would probably say the deal is dead. We feel as a club that we put in a more than fair offer. I don't have any complaints about the offer we put in, I think it's very fair. The player has made it clear that he would like to see the bid accepted. Unfortunately it hasn't been and Anderlecht are well within their rights."
