Lafferty ankle blow for Gers

Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has been ruled out for least six weeks with an ankle injury.

The Northern Ireland international suffered suspected ligament damage after scoring the opening goal - his eighth of the season - in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Hearts.

"(Lafferty) will have a scan as the club tries to find out the extent of the injury he has suffered," confirmed a club statement.

"But even if it reveals no further complications, it looks as though it will be early May at least before he is back in a Light Blues shirt.

"That's a huge blow to manager Walter Smith as the towering forward had really started to make an impression in his side."
