Lafferty finally gets the message

The Ibrox side moved into pole position in the title race on goal difference last Saturday with a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock but were expected to be knocked off the summit by Celtic 24 hours later.[LNB]However, the Scottish champions were held to a 1-1 draw at Motherwell, allowing Rangers to retain their lofty position.[LNB]But Lafferty has revealed how he was unaware of the dramatic events at Fir Park - which could have a bearing on the destination of the championship this season.[LNB]"I didn't watch the Celtic game," he said.[LNB]"I think it's about how Rangers play and how we go about things.[LNB]"I got a message from my sister saying it was 1-1 - that's how I found out.[LNB]"We are happy. Over the last two months, we have played some good football.[LNB]"Celtic have dropped points and we have picked up points.[LNB]"But there is still a long way to go and a lot of games to be played so we can't get too carried away.[LNB]"We just have to keep trying to pick up as many points as we can between now and the end of the season."[LNB]Lafferty insists the players, like himself, who have never tasted league success before are the driving force behind Rangers' title charge, rather than those who have been over the course before.[LNB]"People who haven't won a title are more determined to win it this season," he said.[LNB]"Especially myself, with it being my first season as a Rangers player, it would be great to get a league medal."[LNB]And he insists no-one at Ibrox has ever given up hope of ending Celtic's domination of Scottish football, even when they fell seven points behind their rivals in the wake of December's Old Firm derby defeat at Ibrox.[LNB]Lafferty said: "I think a lot of people wrote us off when Celtic went seven points clear.[LNB]"But everyone in the squad and the coaching staff believed we could still do it.[LNB]"Everyone is confident that, if we keep going the way we are, we will win the title."[LNB]This weekend, Rangers face a Hamilton side much improved from the one who suffered a 7-1 thrashing at Ibrox in December.[LNB]But Lafferty believes Walter Smith's men are more than capable of producing a repeat of that result at New Douglas Park.[LNB]The striker said: "They are a good side; they have caused us a few problems before.[LNB]"Then we played them off the park at Ibrox and there is no reason why we can't do that it again if we go about things the right way."[LNB][LNB] Rangers 2/5[LNB], Draw 10/3[LNB], Hamilton 8/1[LNB]
