The Northern Ireland forward was carried off with ligament damage after scoring the opening goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Hearts. A statement on the Ibrox club's official website confirmed Lafferty would undergo a scan on Tuesday but the best-case scenario is for him to return in early May. Lafferty made a slow start to his Ibrox career after being hit with a series of minor injuries following his summer move from Burnley in a deal worth more than £3million. But the 21-year-old has recently started a number of games in his preferred central striking role and netted three goals in as many appearances to take his Rangers tally to nine. Lafferty, has pulled out of his country's World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Slovenia, will now hope his appointment with a specialist offers him hope of making the SPL title run-in, which concludes on May 24. The versatile frontman will also miss the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren on April 25. Meanwhile, defenders Kirk Broadfoot and Madjid Bougherra hope to feature for their national teams this weekend despite missing the draw against Hearts. Broadfoot is hoping to shake off foot and calf problems to make Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Holland in Amsterdam. Bougherra is also hoping to overcome a calf injury in order to represent Algeria in their qualifier in Rwanda and has returned to his homeland for a scan.
