Kirk 'Henrik' Broadfoot!
Nice to see a player studying his profession. I've been guilty of blaming Rangers for being inadequately prepared for the variety of situations which crop up during games. Even now, I am unconvinced that our set plays are properly planned. Imagine then my delight when I watched Kirk Broadfoot in action against Celtic at Parkhead. This is a player who looks to have studied the game as enthusiastically as he trains for it - and he's clearly been watching the master. Henrik Larsson knew how to win a penalty. A light gust of wind from a passing autumn leaf was enough to floor Larsson, and it usually happened when he was in close proximity to an opponent in the penalty box. Referees rushed to point to the spot, and those expert pundits on Radio Clyde and BBC Radio Scotland never dared to hint that the player had gone to ground easily. Big Kirk must have been watching. His upending in the penalty box today was positively Larssonesque, and as we all know from listening to Scotland's radio pundits, Larsson was never a diver. Congratulations, Kirk 'Henrik' Broadfoot. You observed the master - and you learned from him.
