Kanoute ready for 'special' Ibrox

Kanoute has starred at some of the world's legendary stadia, including Old Trafford, Anfield, the Nou Camp and the Bernabeu. He has also experienced the unique flavour of a European final at Hampden Park, having scored there to help Sevilla win the UEFA Cup two years ago. And although he has yet to play a competitive game at Ibrox, the former Tottenham and West Ham star has seen what the stadium is like on Champions League night. "From my time down south, I know all about what it's like," he said. "And I think any fan anywhere in the world knows what it's like, that it's a special atmosphere here. "It's not an easy task to come here and get a result. We know the fans really support the team and get behind the side. "But it's a case of overcoming that, and we've got to try to impose our style of play and impose our game on the situation." Sevilla arrived in Glasgow on Monday on the back of five straight victories in all competitions, including winning their Champions League Group G opener. Despite riding high both at home and abroad, Manolo Jimenez's men are once again failing to get the plaudits their performances deserve. But although Real Madrid and Barcelona continue to hog the headlines, Kanoute would not have it any other way. "I quite enjoy it really," he said. "It allows us to get on with our job without the glare of the press. "It's nice to just quietly go about our business, getting on, competing and doing our best to try to outdo the big two." They will have a chance to do that this weekend when they host big-spending Real in the Primera Liga. But Jimenez is shunning all talk of that fixture until the job is done against Rangers on Tuesday night. "For me at the moment, Real Madrid and that match doesn't exist," said Jimenez, who has successfully rotated his squad so far this season and may do so again tonight. "It's not all about making changes for the sake of changes; it's all about getting the right side out for the right game." Rangers v Sevilla 1st Goalscorer: Kanoute, F. 5/1
