ew recruit Nikica Jelavic admits he still has some way to go before he deserves the adulation of the Rangers fans.[LNB] The Croatian striker made his debut in the 2-1 win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League after being granted a work permit.[LNB]The introduction of Jelavic, who signed from Rapid Vienna for £4million, was met with noisy approval from the Ibrox faithful when he came off the bench with just over 20 minutes to go.[LNB]He concedes he needs time to adapt to the Scottish game but is confident of his ability to settle in his new surroundings.[LNB]"It was nice to hear all these fans but I have to prove myself to deserve this," he said.[LNB]"I had 20 minutes and it was hard but I think it will be better and better.[LNB]"I don't know how long it will take for top match sharpness but I hope it won't be too long.[LNB]"You have to go for every ball 100% so it's a little bit different but I think it will come.[LNB]"It was nice to be part of this game and it was a hard match.[LNB]"But after we showed out character, we won the match which is very important for us."[LNB]Speculation surrounds the future of Kenny Miller ahead of the transfer deadline after it emerged he rejected a new contract with the Scottish champions.[LNB]The striker has netted in every SPL game so far this season, with the winner on Saturday bringing his tally to five this term and 50 for Rangers altogether.[LNB]Jelavic urged him to remain at Rangers so they can forge a profitable partnership.[LNB]Jelavic said: "It's nice to play with this guy because he doesn't need a 100% chance - he only needs a little moment and he scores.[LNB]"It's good to play with him. I don't know his situation but I hope he will stay with us."[LNB]Danny Grainger stunned Rangers when he claimed the opener for Saints, before Sasa Papac levelled the scoreline with some help from defender Kevin Rutkiewicz.[LNB]Miller then netted what proved to be the decisive goal, despite claims from the Saints camp that he fouled Alan Maybury in the build-up.[LNB]Grainger said: "It's a nice memory for myself personally to score the goal but it's nothing now.[LNB]"It would have been nice if it was the winning goal or had even got us a point out of the game.[LNB]"If you look back at the video, you can see it was a blatant foul on Alan Maybury for the second goal.[LNB]"I just can't believe the referee didn't see it.[LNB]"It has been a bit of an injustice that we didn't get at least a point from the game.[LNB]"Sometimes you get these decisions and sometimes you don't.[LNB]"It's not just in Glasgow, it could have happened at McDiarmid Park, Hamilton, anywhere."[LNB]
