Jelavic closing in on Ibrox switch

Croatia striker Nikica Jelavic will arrive at Murray Park on Friday and is set to become Walter Smith's third summer signing for Rangers.[LNB] Jelavic will have a medical and conclude personal terms after the Ibrox club finally reached agreement with Rapid Vienna.[LNB]The Croatian refused to play for Rapid in Thursday's Europa League play-off against Aston Villa as he tried to force the Austrian club into paving the way for the transfer which will reportedly cost the Ibrox club around £4million.[LNB]Chief executive Martin Bain told the club's official website: "We have agreed a fee with Rapid for Nikica Jelavic and we have also agreed personal terms in principle.[LNB]"He will arrive tomorrow when we will hope to complete these and when he will also undergo a medical."[LNB]If all goes well, the 24-year-old will join sign Slovakia international Vladimir Weiss, who signed for the Scottish champions on a one-year loan deal.[LNB]The Manchester City winger arrived in Glasgow earlier today to complete the move, having also been linked with Old Firm rivals Celtic, as well as Stuttgart and Sampdoria.[LNB]Last week Rangers boss Smith captured James Beattie from Stoke for an undisclosed fee.
