Jardine: Players will be focused

Ibrox legend Sandy Jardine has backed Rangers to continue producing the goods on the field regardless of any off-field challenges.[LNB] Reports on Thursday claim former director Donald McIntyre has launched a legal bid to have £300,000 of the club's assets frozen pending a breach of contract case, after resigning from the board earlier this week.[LNB]McIntyre was suspended by Rangers in May, along with ex-chief executive Martin Bain, who last month succeeded in having £480,000 of the club's cash ringfenced as part of his own case against his former employers.[LNB]The Scottish champions are also involved in two separate tax disputes with HM Revenue and Customs, but Jardine does not believe financial issues will have any impact on the players as they chase a fourth successive Scottish Premier League title.[LNB]The former defender said: "You've always got a concern. If you've got a love for your club then you will be concerned.[LNB]"But the big thing is that it's never affected any of the players. We've had financial problems probably for the last five years in some form or other.[LNB]"You would have to say that Celtic, as a club and as our main competitors, have had more resources than what we have had.[LNB]"But full credit to everyone, from the management side to the players, who have responded. If that continues, I'm quite sure the players and management will respond again.[LNB]"We have had financial problems for the last five years and it's been known to everybody but it has not affected the playing side and it shouldn't affect the playing side.[LNB]"You just get on with it. The modern player thinks about playing, they don't think about other things like that in my experience."[LNB]Jardine also believes supporters, albeit concerned about headlines regarding the club's finances, are more interested in securing silverware.[LNB]He said: "For every supporter in the world and for every club, it's about winning trophies.[LNB]"This club is about winning trophies. Supporters don't really get concerned about anything financial.[LNB]"They read about it and maybe have a concern but the main thing is they turn up and see their team on a Saturday and they want to see them playing well and they want to see them winning.[LNB]"They want to see them winning the trophies at the end of the season and that won't change."[LNB]Rangers are aiming for a 10th consecutive SPL win when they play host to St Mirren on Saturday.[LNB]Jardine said: "For any club, in any league, to win 10 games in a row is always a fantastic achievement.[LNB]"Since the start of the season we have done very well and you've got to give not just the players, but also the management, credit for that.[LNB]"But you never count your chickens. St Mirren have been a breathe of fresh air in the league, Danny Lennon has done a really good job and they play football and they have played very well.[LNB]"They will come to Ibrox on Saturday with no pressure on them. The big thing for us, as far as I'm concerned, is that we show the correct attitude.[LNB]"If we have the correct attitude, I wouldn't have any fears about getting a good performance and a good result.[LNB]"But we should never underestimate anybody."[LNB]Jardine was speaking at the launch of The Official Biography of Rangers.
