I didn't speak to Rangers - Commons

Kris Commons has claimed there was no chance of him choosing Rangers over Celtic.

The Scotland winger, 27, met the media at Celtic Park following the confirmation of his move from Derby on a three-and-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee thought to be around £300,000. Commons had been targeted by Rangers but the Ibrox club had reportedly failed to meet the player's wage demands, allowing their Old Firm rivals to step in.

Asked if he had spoken to Rangers, Commons replied: "No. I think it was mainly talk from yourselves (media). There was no talk from our side."

He added: "The things that went in the press - the wages, the money - was all nonsense.

"Once I knew Celtic's interest, it was an easy decision for me.

"I would have chosen Celtic, no matter what.

"I would go as far as to say it's a dream come true.

"The opportunity to play in front of 60,000 people week in, week out is magnificent for me.

"It's a young talented squad and hopefully I will enhance that and give me my best footballing years of my career.

"I will try to create and make goals and hopefully I can show all my qualities."
