Hutton stakes his claim

Kyle Hutton has told Ally McCoist he will not let him down if the Rangers manager-in-waiting keeps the faith with him next season. The 20-year-old midfielder is one of several youngsters who have made the breakthrough this term, with restricted finances and a compact squad meaning boss Walter Smith has been forced to give youth a chance. McCoist could have more cash to spend on bolstering the ranks he inherits from Smith at the end of the campaign if a potential takeover goes ahead, with Scottish tycoon Craig Whyte believed to be edging closer to a buy-out. But Hutton hopes he has done enough to show the assistant manager he is worthy of a place in his plans when the McCoist era gets under way. "If investment comes in, Coisty is going to have to look at every position in the team," he said. "I understand that but hopefully I've done enough to be in his plans and, if I am in his plans, I won't let him down. "My aim just now is to try to get as many games as I can and hopefully get a run of games going. It's always going to be difficult for me to get a run of games because we have a lot of people coming back from injury but you never know. Hopefully I can get more games."
