Rangers teenager Kyle Hutton believes he can only benefit from facing the likes of Paul Scholes during their Champions League defeat by Manchester United.
The 19-year-old was handed his second Rangers start, and fifth appearance in all, in Walter Smith's injury-hit team for Wednesday night's 1-0 Ibrox defeat. Hutton only found out he was playing hours before kick-off after Kyle Lafferty broke a bone in his hand during a training session.
But the midfielder feels he acquitted himself well after a nervous opening and he told www.rangersfc.co.uk: "It was absolutely fantastic, a dream come true. To come up against Manchester United in the Champions League, it doesn't get any bigger than that."
He added: "Obviously I was really surprised when I was told I would be starting but I just tried to get my head around it quickly and get on with it.
"There were a few butterflies in the build-up to the game, I think that's only natural, and in the first 10 minutes you are always going to be a wee bit shaky.
"But once I settled into the match I thought I did okay.
"The manager said to me before the game just to try and get a few early touches on the ball and I tried to do that and keep things simple.
"From there I just worked as hard as I could and in the second half I did my best to get forward a bit more.
"But overall it was a great game to play in and to come up against Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes was a terrific experience."
