Gers told to sign up Davis

    26 Mar 2008 - 07:33:21

Hibernian winger Dean Shiels has urged Rangers to agree a permanent deal for loan midfielder Steven Davis, who has made an impressive start to his time at Ibrox.

The 23-year-old Irishman has scored once in 11 games for the Gers since joining from Fulham, with long-time pal Shiels having a close-up view of Davis' ability during Saturday's 2-1 defeat by the SPL leaders.

Shiels told the Scottish Daily Mail: "Steve's very dynamic and has great ability on the ball. He very rarely gives it away and I think he offers Rangers something very different.

"He'll be a big player for Rangers between now and the end of the season. They'd do well to get him permanently.

"He's the sort of guy nothing will bother and he won't get flustered in the heat of the moment. The Old Firm is a massive game but he has the temperament and mentality to deal with that."
