Gers release keeper Letizi

Rangers have released Lionel Letizi from his contract and the veteran goalkeeper has left Ibrox by mutual consent.

Letizi signed for the Gers from Paris Saint Germain last summer and made eight appearances under former manager Paul Le Guen.

The 33-year-old custodian lost his first-team place to Allan McGregor towards the end of Le Guen's ill-fated reign at Ibrox and has been allowed to leave by new boss Walter Smith.

Letizi now looks set to rejoin Nice, the club where he started his career and won the French second division title in 1994.
