Rangers manager Walter Smith has rejected reports claiming Alan Hutton is set to perform a dramatic U-turn and sign for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Scotland international defender rejected the opportunity to speak to the north London club last week after Rangers reluctantly agreed an £8million fee for his services.
Smith praised the decision of the 23-year-old full-back and has denied fresh reports suggesting Hutton has now changed his mind.
The stories had surfaced after Hutton missed training on Monday, but Smith revealed he was given the day off after a recent hectic spell.
Speaking about Hutton's original decision, he had said: "We received a bid from Tottenham, which was reluctantly accepted in many ways, but the player himself wants to remain at Rangers.
"From a footballing perspective that is good news for us all as he has been doing extremely well and we didn't want to lose him.
"We still have use of someone who has been one of our best performers this season and we delighted with his decision."
