Rangers chief executive Martin Bain has confirmed the club are considering legal action over Vladimir Romanov's alleged accusations that the Old Firm "buy off" players and referees.
The Hearts' majority shareholder made the claims in an interview with a Russian magazine which was later transcribed by a newspaper in Scotland.
Romanov has since denied making the comments but Bain has followed the lead set by Celtic chairman Brian Quinn and confirmed the Ibrox club may take action over the comments.
"It was only after we landed on our flight back from Israel that I was made aware of Mr Romanov's alleged comments," he told the Scottish Sun.
"If they are confirmed then the matter will be referred to both the club's lawyers and the SFA."
