Rangers have been told by St Johnstone that they will need to pay the 'going rate' if they plan on acquiring Murray Davidson.[LNB] Gers have tabled a bid for the 23-year-old midfielder, however, it has been labelled as 'far short' of the club's valuation.[LNB]The Saints admit they will not stand in the way of a player looking to progress their careers, but Rangers must pay his worth.[LNB]Chairman Geoff Brown would not reveal the sum the Light Blues offered and now hopes Davidson is not unsettled going forward.[LNB]"It fell far short of our valuation of Murray," explained Brown.[LNB]"I'm not going to say what the offer was, but let's just say the time it took to respond was the time it took to type out 'no thank you'.[LNB]"If a player is regarded by a club like Rangers as a first-team squad man he must have a value. And they haven't come close to what we believe this player is worth.[LNB]"We don't want to close any doors because there is also a player we have to consider. But any club wanting Murray has to pay the going rate and certainly not what was being offered by Rangers.[LNB]"I hope this doesn't unsettle him with our first game of the season at Aberdeen this weekend. We've made it clear we won't stand in the way of a player going on to a bigger stage."
