Gers looking to boost squad

Rangers owner Craig Whyte has assured fans that manager Ally McCoist has plenty of transfer targets this summer.[LNB] But he claims the Scottish champions will not be held to ransom as they set about bolstering the squad ahead of the new season.[LNB]One player who was on McCoist's wanted list, Tomer Hemed, has snubbed a move to Ibrox in favour of Real Mallorca.[LNB]Whyte told the Scottish Daily Mail: "Ally has targets in mind and we are actively negotiating to bring in several new players.[LNB]"The fact Hemed has gone elsewhere is disappointing but we will not overpay for players.[LNB]"He was not our first choice anyway."[LNB]Whyte, who completed his takeover last month, added: "Rangers has no bank debt now. If I hadn't come in, Rangers wouldn't have gone bust.[LNB]"But they would have been forced to sell the best players and substantially reduce the wage bill."[LNB]
