Dundee United have rejected a bid from Scottish Premier League champions Rangers for striker David Goodwillie.[LNB] The 22-year-old has been the subject of reported interest from npower Championship side Cardiff and Rangers, who tabled the offer on Wednesday.[LNB]A United spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a bid from Rangers for David Goodwillie.[LNB]"The bid has been rejected because it does not meet our valuation."[LNB]United issued a statement on Tuesday night insisting no bid had been received from Rangers.[LNB]But Rangers made their approach on Wednesday and were rebuffed by United.[LNB]Goodwillie has long been linked with a move from Tannadice to Ibrox and was the subject of intense speculation over a move in January.[LNB]However, it appears there is a difference in the amount new Rangers owner Craig Whyte is willing to pay and United's £2million valuation of the player, who in March signed a one-year contract extension until May 2013.[LNB]Speaking on Monday, Rangers boss Ally McCoist said: "I wouldn't say it's dead in the water.[LNB]"The interest certainly isn't dead in the water.[LNB]"Our representatives have spoken with Stephen Thompson at Dundee United so there has been dialogue, although there has been no offer made as yet."
