Gers close in on Kerkar swoop
Rangers manager Walter Smith has confirmed he is hoping to sign Salim Kerkar after the winger impressed on trial.[LNB] Kerkar has been training with the Gers for the past month after spending the past few seasons in France with Gueugnon.[LNB]The Algerian has done enough to warrant a contract with the SPL champions and is set to link up with his compatriot Madjid Bougherra at Ibrox.[LNB]Smith said: "He has been with us for about a month. Martin Bain will speak to his agents and I hope we manage to get him.[LNB]"He will be a good addition to our pool if we can reach agreement."[LNB]Kerkar said: "Unless there's a huge last minute change I will be signing for Rangers.[LNB]"Madjid is like a brother to me and it's thanks to him this is happening. I dream of doing what he's done."
