Gers chasing Espanyol defender

Rangers have confirmed they are keen on bringing Espanyol defender Raul Rodriguez to Ibrox this summer.[LNB] The SPL champions have already made one Spanish raid during the close season having landed Juanma Ortiz.[LNB]Gers boss Ally McCoist revealed he wanted another defender on Saturday and now Rodriguez's name has been confirmed.[LNB]The club's director of football, Gordon Smith, says the club are considering a deal for the 23-year-old having held initial talks with Espanyol.[LNB]"He's a player we're considering," commented Smith to BBC Scotland.[LNB]"We've spoken to Espanyol and we'll speak to them again to try to come to an agreement over a fee.[LNB]"They've given us an idea of what they're looking for, so hopefully we can get something done."[LNB]Rodriguez spent three seasons with Gramenet in Spain's Second Division B before joining Catalonia neighbours Espanyol in summer 2010.
