Gers can defeat Sevilla - Novo

The Scottish champions will have drawn confidence from a stirring second-half performance in Stuttgart in their Group G opener, which allowed them to return to Glasgow with a point.[LNB]Rangers had appeared rattled in the opening 45 minutes in Germany and were fortunate not to be trailing by more than Pavel Pogrebnyak's opener at half-time.[LNB]But Walter Smith's men were far more assured after the restart and hauled themselves level through a wonderful Madjid Bougherra strike, before Steven Davis struck the post late on.[LNB]On Tuesday night Rangers will have the backing of 50,000 fans at Ibrox and Novo sees no reason why they cannot take three points from the clash with the La Liga side.[LNB]"Ours is a very strong mentality and we feel that we can compete with any team," he said.[LNB]"I have every confidence in my team-mates."[LNB]However, he admits it could be a busy night for the Rangers rearguard if they allow Sevilla to create chances in front of goal.[LNB]Novo said: "They are all dangerous - but especially the strikers.[LNB]"(Fredi) Kanoute and (Luis) Fabiano are very strong and powerful. (Alvaro) Negredo is a new signing and he is strong and very good in the air.[LNB]"There are too many to mention. They are a good side and they have been proving that over the last few years.[LNB]"They have been in the UEFA Cup final - and won it (two years running in 2006 and 2007) - so it will be a nice game for us."[LNB]For Spanish striker Novo, the meetings with a team from his homeland are the ones he will relish most in a group which also sees Rangers face Romanian champions Unirea Urziceni.[LNB]He said: "I'm happy to be playing them - you are always happy when you play against a team from your country.[LNB]"I'm looking forward to it."[LNB]However, there is unlikely to be a Novo family reunion for the match at Ibrox.[LNB]"I think everybody will get together for the game in Spain in December so I will see all my family then," he said.[LNB][LNB][LNB] Champions League Nationality of Winner 09/10 Win Outright: Any Other 8/1
