Gers boss pleased window is shut
A number of players were linked with moves away from Ibrox but in the end the only significant bit of news at the club on Tuesday was the arrival of Jerome Rothen on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
With Rangers' financial problems well documented, it came as something of a surprise to see no-one sold.
Manager Smith knows that may change when the transfer window reopens in January, but for now he is just looking forward to focusing on playing games.
He said in the Evening Times: "It's definitely nice to see the back of the transfer window. It puts an end to all the uncertainty - at least until January.
"We've had a lot of players linked with moves away from the club and everyone is well aware of the financial situation we have.
"However, as the manager, it is certainly pleasing not to have lost the services of important, first-team players."
Smith, whose side have won all three of their Scottish Premier League games this season, added: "There has been a lot of speculation over the summer and with the transfer window closing it means everyone can concentrate on the football rather than anything else.
"We also have the Champions League to look forward to."
Smith admitted he would have liked to have been able to strengthen his squad further before the window closed, saying: "We weren't as active during the transfer window as we would have obviously liked in terms of bringing players in."
