Foster gives McGregor the credit

Richard Foster believes goalkeeper Allan McGregor should be credited with having a major role to play in keeping Rangers in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title race. McGregor was on top form again on Sunday as he denied Dougie Imrie from the penalty spot before Nikica Jelavic went on to net the only goal of the game against Hamilton. The 1-0 win allowed Rangers to move back within two points of Celtic and remain within touching distance of their rivals at the summit of the SPL. And, as far as Foster is concerned, it is not the first time McGregor has come to the rescue of the Scottish champions this term. He said: "He's a top class goalkeeper - over the course of the season he's probably saved us numerous points with his reflexes. "I don't think I ever won a game against Rangers at Ibrox when I was at Aberdeen and that was largely down to him. There were so many times when I'd think we had to score but somehow he'd react and pull off a save. "I now see him first hand in training - and it's taken me five months to score past him! I finally did it but it was a one-on-one where the odds were stacked in my favour. He's just different class. A lot of it is natural but a lot of it has to do with Jim Stewart, our goalkeeping coach. Allan and Neil Alexander are both good goalies at the top of their game."
