Foster expects Dons return

Richard Foster admits he fully expects to quit Rangers and return to Aberdeen at the end of the campaign.

The versatile defender joined the Scottish champions on a season-long loan from the Dons but does not anticipate an extended stay at Ibrox when that deal ends.

He told BBC Alba's ClubTV: "My situation as it stands is that I'm going back to Aberdeen for next season, up until this point that's the way it is."

His move to Glasgow was sanctioned by previous boss Mark McGhee and Foster's understanding is that current manager Craig Brown wants him back at Pittodrie next term.

He added: "I've seen in the papers that they (Brown and assistant Archie Knox) want me to go back and if that's the case at the end of the season I'd be more than happy and I'd work as hard as I can for them."

However, he believes the time he has spent at Rangers so far has allowed him to answer some critics.

"I had to prove a few doubters wrong when I came here," he said.

"I think coming from a smaller SPL club there was always going to be scepticism - but hopefully my performances have relieved any fears fans may have and hopefully I'm good enough to play for Rangers."
