Fleck in Rangers contract talks

Rangers have opened contract talks with their promising forward John Fleck. The 18-year-old's current deal runs out in the summer of 2011 and it had been widely reported he had turned down new terms from the Ibrox club. [LNB]No offer had been made, although Fleck's team-mate Danny Wilson has refused a contract extension. [LNB]Wilson's current deal also has 18 months to run and, despite that rejection, both he and Fleck say they want to stay at Ibrox. [LNB]Manager Walter Smith told the club website: "The players have the same agent and we have found out in John's case that there has been a slight misunderstanding between the representative and the club. [LNB]"John wasn't fully aware his agent was negotiating a contract and the negative press was a little hard on him. [LNB]"It was reported he had turned down the contract when he actually hadn't, so negotiations are now taking place. [LNB]"Danny's situation remains the same but John is getting an opportunity to play and we are delighted with him, so hopefully something can happen."
