Ferguson set for Scotland start
18 Nov 2008 - 13:30:47
Rangers captain Barry Ferguson will play his first Scotland game for over a year when Argentina visit Hampden Park for an international friendly on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old midfielder has started two games for the Gers since undergoing ankle surgery in the summer but is set to play his first international game under boss George Burley.
Burley confirmed: "Barry's going to start, and we'll have a look at it. He's back from a long-term injury and he's played two 90 minutes for Rangers.
"It's good to have him back, and we're pleased he's fit again. But we'll see how it goes."
Ferguson added: "It's obviously a game that everyone in the squad, not just myself, is desperate to play in.
"Argentina are one of the best teams about and have some fantastic players.
"When I found out we were going to be playing them, it was one of the games I was desperate to get back and get involved in - and thankfully my rehab has gone well."
