    Ferguson focused on return

    17 Sep 2008 - 10:10:59

Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has revealed his determination to bounce back from injury following claims that his best days are now behind him.

Ferguson, 30, has been out of action since undergoing ankle surgery shortly after the club returned for pre-season training in July.

In the meantime, Gers boss Walter Smith has added the likes of Pedro Mendes and Steven Davis to a midfield formerly bossed by Ferguson.

But despite claims from some pundits that the Scotland international may struggle to reclaim his starting place, Ferguson is determined to bounce back and prove his doubters wrong.

"I've heard whispers about me being finished but I don't know where people get that kind of stuff," he told Rangers World.

"I want to show people how fit and strong I am when I come back.

"I think the new signings brought in by the manager recently are good players.

"Davo (Davis) has obviously been here before and he knows what it is all about when you play for Rangers so it was never going to be a problem when he arrived.

"Pedro has quality too and everyone can see that.

"He knows how to slow a game down and how to pass and he is someone I look forward to playing with."
