The Rangers Supporters Trust have welcomed the news that Craig Whyte has finally completed his takeover of the club.

And the fans organisation are now keen to hold talks with the new owner about his plans for the future of the Scottish champions. A saga stretching back six months finally came to an end on Friday when the Scots tycoon confirmed in a statement to the Stock Exchange that he had completed his acquisition of Sir David Murray's majority shareholding.

Whyte first confirmed plans for a takeover and revealed that talks were taking place with Murray International Holdings on November 18. "We are pleased it has finally come to a conclusion and we welcome the transfer of shares from Murray to Craig Whyte," an RST spokesperson said.

"We recognise that Craig Whyte has been restricted in what he can say because of Stock Exchange rules and takeover protocol.

"Now that that's done, we look forward to discussions with him on what his plans for the club are and how he sees the Rangers support and the Rangers family playing a part in that.

"What we are looking for is a completely redrawn relationship between the club, board and the support and the recognition that we are all in it together.

"We ultimately want the same thing, which is a successful and vibrant Rangers Football Club on and off the park."
