Steven Davis hopes Rangers can repeat their European final run of 2008 this season. Rangers, who were beaten finalists in the 2008 UEFA Cup, meet Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 clash at Ibrox on Thursday. Rangers beat Sporting en route to the City of Manchester Stadium and Davis is optimistic Walter Smith's men have what it takes to have another strong run in continental competition this term as they continue to challenge on four fronts. The 26-year-old midfielder told Rangers TV: "Once you get to this stage of the competition you expect a good level of opposition and a tough game. "Having played Sporting previously we know the task ahead. It's definitely a game to look forward to."From the players' point of view it is one game at a time and we never look too far ahead. But the minute you step over the white line you just want to win the game. "We'll be doing our best to stay in the competition. It was such a great feeling to go on a good run the last time and to get to the final. It's a tremendous task to try and emulate that again, but we'll do our best to try and go as far as we can in the competition."
