Edu taking it one game at a time

Goals from Andrius Velicka and Kris Boyd sealed a crucial 2-0 victory over Hearts in the Scottish Premier League. Rangers now face their toughest test of the season when they play host to Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the season on Saturday. With defending champions Celtic boasting just a single-point advantage at the summit of the SPL, the clash at Ibrox will have a major bearing on the outcome of the title. Edu said: "We are all happy with the way things have been going recently but we can't look too far ahead. "We have to keep things simple and take it game by game. The next game is Celtic and we will do what we can to prepare properly and win the game. "The stretch of wins is pleasing but we aren't going to be pleased until the end of the season comes when we lift the title and we can look back and say we did well. "The wins have come at a crucial time but the job's not done yet." Edu - who joined from MLS last summer - is set to make his Old Firm debut but is unfazed by the prospect. He said: "I would expect an intense atmosphere. The rivalry runs deep and we know there will be a lot of tackles and challenges. "But there will also be a lot of chances and goalscoring opportunities and hopefully we take advantage of ours and we are the team who is happy in the end. "Getting the three points will take us coming out and performing. We know what we are capable of and we know what sort of game it's going to be. "It might be a battle and we have to be prepared for anything. We want to play our game and do what we can to overcome them. "We don't know if it's going to be an attractive game but we just have to be prepared for anything and get the win. "I would rather it not be an attractive game and we win 1-0 than playing attractive football and not winning." Asked what he has learned from his first season in Scottish football, the United States international replied: "You see the different sides of players from the different teams that we've played against so far. "You see the aggression and the real physical play, end-to-end play. But I'm enjoying it and that's the most important thing. "We are winning the games, which is crucial, so looking forward, we'll just carry that on and win every game and hopefully win the league." And he says he has had no problem dealing with the pressure which comes from playing for one of the Old Firm. "I just want to win," he said. "I don't care who we are playing against. If you go into games with that mentality, then you are setting yourself up to do well. "There are going to be obstacles and there are going to be setbacks along the way. "I try not to think about the outside influences and just approach every game with the mentality that I'm going to do what I can to help the team win." Hearts staged an impressive comeback to claim a share of the spoils in their last visit to Ibrox and boss Csaba Laszlo was disappointed to return to Edinburgh empty-handed this time around. He said: "Hearts played good football but I've got nothing in my pockets and, for us, I'm very angry."
