USA World Cup star Maurice Edu has left behind the wonderful memories of South Africa to get back to club business with Rangers.

The midfielder played his part in getting his country to the second stages of this summer's tournament where they were eliminated by Ghana. Edu only had three weeks off before he joined up with his Gers team mates in Sydney as they prepare for the start of the 2010/11 campaign and the former Toronto FC player is now focused on winning a record 54th Clydesdale Bank Premier League championship.

"It's great to be back with all the boys again," he told the club's official website.

"I had a few weeks off to relax after South Africa and took my mind off things but that's behind me now.

"It was great to have a bit of time away from football but I'm excited about being in Australia and with the team once more.

"It's important for me now to be back amongst everyone as we all need to be ready for the first game of the season against Kilmarnock.

"I found it a real privilege to be part of the World Cup and it has been fun talking to all of the guys about what it was like.

"Not many people get to experience it so it was an honour to be part of the tournament, especially as it was the first one in Africa.

"Now, though, I've got my business head back on again and we are all training hard ahead of our first competitive games."
