East Stirlingshire memories

One of my best footballing memories has nothing to do with Rangers.

I went one cold winter night to see East Stirling v Dumbarton - the former Nottingham Forrest striker Ian Wallace (A Rangers signing target under Jock Wallace) was both my local newsagent and Dumbarton manager!  So off to bonnie Falkirkshire it was.

As we went through the turnstiles a young guy with  a clipboard was taking the names of each spectator as the Shire had a free half-time draw for everyone.

Sure enough at half-time the winner was called out over the tannoy.  Then the announcer gave the crowd as “157, and they are - Willie McGlumper, Joe Smith . . . .”
