Desire has driven Gers to glory - Weir

David Weir believes desire and consistency throughout the team has left Rangers on the verge of their second consecutive SPL title.[LNB] Rangers will clinch the championship on Sunday if they take a point from their clash against Hibernian at Easter Road.[LNB]They may not even need to do so given Celtic must beat Dundee United beforehand to keep the issue alive.[LNB]Weir feels being in such a strong position with four matches remaining is testament to their will to win throughout the campaign.[LNB]"We have a desire every weekend, you've got to have a desire every weekend," the 39-year-old said.[LNB]"That's what drives us on, regardless of what's at stake. You are playing for Rangers, you have got to win every game.[LNB]"It's Hibs away, which is always a difficult game, so we have to turn up."[LNB]On Monday night, Weir collected the Clydesdale Bank player of the year award a week after being named on the shortlist for the PFA Scotland prize.[LNB]That four-man list also contained Rangers striker Kris Boyd and midfielder Steven Davis, who scooped both players' and fans' votes in the club's own awards night.[LNB]With Danny Wilson also in the running for the PFA Scotland young player award, Weir feels the plaudits could be spread evenly around the dressing room this season.[LNB]"I think you could go right throughout our team and put a case for most players, from the goalkeeper to Kris up front," the centre-back said.[LNB]"In my opinion that's a good sign that we're all contributing in being a successful team, although we've not got that success yet."[LNB]Weir has played in every minute of each SPL game so far this season and is keen to continue the record.[LNB]"There are still four games to go so that is obviously a nice achievement," he said.[LNB]"But the ultimate achievement is Rangers winning the league."
