Depleted Gers report for training

Thirteen players have reported for the first day of pre-season training at Rangers' Murray Park training ground, the club's media team have confirmed.

However, three of those players are out of contract and their future is unclear under Charles Green's newco club.

Scotland internationals Kirk Broadfoot, Lee McCulloch and Lee Wallace plus goalkeepers Neil Alexander and Scott Gallacher are among those to have turned up.

Murray Park graduates Kyle Hutton, Ross Perry, Kal Naismith, Darren Cole and Kane Hemmings are also confirmed attendees. Free agents Andrew Mitchell, Salim Kerkar, Chris Hegarty - whose contracts expired at the end of the season - also reported for fitness tests and their immediate future remains unclear.

Andrew Little, who is also out of contract, is not among the 13.

The club said Dorin Goian and Alejandro Bedoya were not due back while Maurice Edu and Carlos Bocanegra were also given extra time off after playing for USA in World Cup qualifiers.

At least 10 players have objected to a transfer from soon-to-be-liquidated Rangers to the newco club, with John Fleck and Juan Manuel Ortiz joining those ranks on Wednesday.

Ortiz and Fleck, who both spent the second half of last season on loan, joined Rhys McCabe, Sone Aluko, Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker, Kyle Lafferty, Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Jamie Ness in objecting to the transfer of their contracts.

PFA Scotland believes they are free agents and have asked the football authorities to release their registration from Rangers, but Green has vowed to seek compensation.

Green bought the assets of Rangers for £5.5million two weeks ago but his club's future is unclear, with Scottish Premier League clubs set to vote against admitting them to the top flight and opposition growing among Scottish Football League clubs over a deal to put them in the Irn-Bru First Division.
