Davis not worried about Celtic

Steven Davis insists Rangers will not be casting any nervous glances in Celtic's direction after their rivals closed the gap on the Clydesdale Bank Premier League leaders to 10 points.

The Scottish champions were held to a goalless draw by St Johnstone at Ibrox on Saturday after the Hoops claimed victory at Inverness earlier in the day. Celtic are now in action twice - in their game in hand against Dunfermline midweek and Saturday's meeting with St Mirren - before Rangers travel to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

That means what was a 12-point lead at the summit could effectively be slashed to just four points before the trip to Ayrshire, but stand-in skipper Davis claims they are not worried. He said: "I think there is going to be plenty of to-ing and fro-ing between now and the end of the season."

Davis added: "As players, we are not concentrating on that. We just want to keep the consistency going and keep winning games.

"We are not too concerned really about where Celtic are at this moment in time.

"There is so much football still to be played. We're not even thinking about our lead, it's just about keeping winning our own games.

"That's what we've always tried to do since I've been at the club."
