Davis expecting tight title race

Sunday's damp squib at Parkhead kept Celtic two points clear of their arch-rivals at the top of the table.[LNB]Rangers will climb into pole position for the first time since November if they beat Kilmarnock on Saturday.[LNB]But whatever happens between now and May, Northern Ireland star Davis can only see a repeat of the kind of drama that saw Celtic snatch the title on the final day of last season.[LNB]"I have been saying for a few weeks now that I think the league race will go right to the wire," he told Rangers News.[LNB]"After what we saw between the teams on Sunday, I've got no reason to believe any differently.[LNB]"Last year was hard for us all and there haven't been too many additions to the squad since then, so most of us went through the disappointment we experienced back then.[LNB]"But the team are performing well this season after having to deal with losing the league and then going out of Europe a few weeks later.[LNB]"We're certainly heading in the right direction and hopefully that will continue.[LNB]"The good thing about Sunday's result in the derby is that the championship is still in our hands.[LNB]"If we go on to win every game between now and the end of the season, we'll have done enough to win the title."[LNB]Rangers have managed to claw back a seven-point deficit since the turn of the year but Davis insists momentum means nothing at this stage of the campaign.[LNB]"We're not really thinking about a shift of power or which side are in the ascendancy," he said.[LNB]"After every Old Firm game, it's usually doom and gloom at one club and a bed of roses at the other.[LNB]"We just have to ignore the hype, remain level-headed and concentrate on each game as it comes. If we do that, we'll be confident.[LNB]"Besides, it doesn't really matter whether we are in control of things or not at the moment.[LNB]"What counts more than anything is who is top of the league at the end of the season and there are still a lot of points to be played for before then.[LNB]"In every Old Firm game I have been involved in, there has been a thin line between success and failure.[LNB]"Getting three points is hard because of that, so how we do against other teams is so important.[LNB]"We've got a good situation in the league just now, but we've already seen this season that other sides are challenging us.[LNB]"Both us and Celtic have dropped points to teams further down the league so nothing is settled yet."[LNB][LNB]
