Davis demands better

There has been little criticism of Steven Davis since the Northern Ireland midfielder moved to Rangers but the player himself believes he can do better this season. Davis won the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award last season despite being played in a wide role rather than his preferred central midfield position for most of the season. The former Aston Villa and Fulham midfielder looked set to occupy the central berth this season but injuries to the likes of Kyle Lafferty have meant Davis has been needed in the wide-right position again, and the 25-year-old feels he has still to match last season's level of performance. "I think my form has been a little indifferent," Davis said. "I don't think I've had the consistency I have had over the past couple of seasons. "I am just trying to work hard to get back to that level. The most important thing is that the team keeps winning and within that I hope to improve my performances as well. "I have said that I want to play in the middle of the park and I have been there at different times but on other occasions I have played on the right. I definitely feel there is better to come from me."
