Davies dreams of Rangers hotseat

ottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has revealed that he "would love" to manage Scottish Premier League giants Rangers one day.[LNB] But the Forest boss, who has been linked repeatedly with the current vacancy at Celtic, claims he has unfinished business in England before moving to his native Scotland.[LNB]The 45-year-old is looking to lead Forest back to the Premier League through the play-offs.[LNB]And he believes he must prove himself in the English top flight before considering a move to the club he supported as boy and spent three seasons at as a fringe player in the 1980s.[LNB]He told BBC Alba's Spors programme: "I'm very open minded with regards to the future. I would love to, no doubt, someday manage Glasgow Rangers.[LNB]"Whether it's in 10 years, 15 years - whatever.[LNB]"However, for now, I'm desperate to get back to the Premier League. I want to get back there with a club that will financially support its manager, a club that wants to compete at that level and doesn't want to change owners. That's my biggest challenge."[LNB]If Davies' Ibrox connections had not already ruled him out of the Celtic job, his latest comments almost certainly will.[LNB]He spoke fondly of his time at Rangers, despite his failure to break into the side.[LNB]"For me, it was always a challenge being a young player joining Glasgow Rangers," he said.[LNB]"You've got to be very patient at these big clubs to try and get some games. Hence the reason why a lot move on and take on another challenge.[LNB]"At Rangers, I never really got a great deal of challenge, although I think my 5ft 6in stature never helped me."[LNB]Davies was sacked as Derby manager just 12 games into their Premier League return in 2007, despite getting them promoted in his first season at the club.[LNB]He now hopes to get back into the top flight with Forest, who were in League One only 12 months ago.[LNB]"We're very proud of our achievements but, at the same time too, our feet remain firmly on the ground," Davies stressed.[LNB]"We've just broken the great record of Brian Clough for home wins. For the first time in 30 years, we've gone undefeated, with a 20-game unbeaten run.[LNB]"Nothing changes though. I know the situation, I know where we are. I know what we've got to do."[LNB]Spors is broadcast on BBC Alba at 8pm on Saturday.
