David: Players unfazed by speculation

The Scottish champions came through the January transfer window with their squad largely intact, losing Pedro Mendes to Sporting Lisbon, while Jerome Rothen's unsuccessful loan spell came to an end.[LNB]But speculation has already begun to mount about the future of key players in the summer, with reports suggesting Madjid Bougherra has been targeted by Barcelona and Sevilla.[LNB]Ongoing uncertainty over the club's finances and the continuing search for a new owner means further departures from Ibrox could be a real possibility at the end of the season.[LNB]But, as far as Davis is concerned, events on the pitch are more important for the players right now with three trophies still up for grabs this term.[LNB]"It's not going to have any affect on us between now and the end of the season," he said.[LNB]"Everybody in the dressing room has the same aim - to win the title again this year.[LNB]"We've got ourselves in a good position but there is still a lot of football to be played and a lot of tough games, starting with Motherwell tomorrow night.[LNB]"From a player's point of view, all you can have an effect on is the games you play. The rest will take care of itself. We can't worry about that too much.[LNB]"We are paid to do a job on the field and hopefully we can continue to do that."[LNB]Rangers travel to Motherwell tomorrow night hoping to strengthen their position at the top of the SPL and Davis admits he would love their 10-point advantage to remain intact before the Old Firm derby at the end of the month.[LNB]"You have to concentrate on yourself and concentrate on each individual game as it comes along and that's what we have been doing recently," he said.[LNB]"We have the same mentality in every game, we give 100% and hopefully our quality will shine through and we keep banging out results.[LNB]"We've got ourselves in a great position at the moment with the 10-point lead and we want to try and keep that for as long as possible.[LNB]"We've got a lot of important games coming up, a lot of tough games, and it's vital that we continue to win our games and keep that gap.[LNB]"We still have Celtic to play twice before the end of the season and we won't be taking our advantage for granted."[LNB]Meanwhile, Davis' recent efforts have not gone unnoticed after he was named Clydesdale Bank Premier League player of the month for January.[LNB]"It's nice to be rewarded for your performances and the hard work you put in," he said.[LNB]"The manager has given me a role in the centre of midfield recently and I've relished it. I just want to continue improving my form and continue getting the goals.[LNB]"As long as the team is doing well, that's the most important thing."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
