Dailly desperate for title success

The utility man has been called upon in recent games with the squad stretched to the limit and has played his part in securing back-to-back wins over St Mirren and Motherwell. But, with just five appearances so far this season - half of the minimum required to claim his own piece of silverware - he is well aware he is unlikely to be involved when the medals are handed out. However, the veteran defender claims his desire to help push Rangers over the finishing line and end Celtic's quest for a fourth successive title has not been diminished as a result. "The only thing I'm bothered about is winning the league as a club," he said. "Having the actual medal is neither here nor there to me. It's about the memories and knowing that you have won." Next up for Rangers is a Hibernian side desperate for the points which will secure their place in the top six before the league split. And Dailly admits that extra incentive makes an already tricky trip to Easter Road even more difficult. "I think it does make it tougher," he said. "The league is like that with the split. Almost every game has quite a lot of meaning to it and there is no doubt that makes it tougher." Dailly believes the controversial league split does have its merits, as has been proved this term with so much still to play for. He added: "It's a funny situation but it does keep it going right until the end of the season. "It's a bit like the play-offs in England, which are great because it keeps things going until the end and means there is something to play for. "So, from that point of view, it's a good thing." Boss Walter Smith also expects the quest for a top-six finish to have an impact when Rangers face Hibs. He said: "Hibs were a bit stuttering at the start of the season but have picked up and will want to finish the season by getting into the top six. "We always face a difficult game at Easter Road and the fight for sixth place will make it even tougher for us."
