Pedro Caixinha evaded the waiting media and fans as he arrived in Glasgow ahead of taking over as manager of Rangers.

The Light Blues agreed a deal with Qatari side Al Gharafa on Thursday for the Portuguese coach to move to Ibrox, and the 46-year-old is expected to sign a contract later on Saturday having jetted in to Glasgow Airport from Dubai at midday.

A crowd had gathered to welcome Caixinha to Scotland, but he managed to avoid them before making a quick exit.

Graeme Murty should continue in a caretaker role for Sunday's derby clash at Celtic, but Caixinha is expected to be in the stand.

The former goalkeeper moved to Qatar in 2015 after a successful spell with Santos Laguna, a Mexican club with close links to Celtic.

He previously managed Uniao de Leiria and Nacional in his homeland after spells on the coaching staff at the likes of Sporting Lisbon, Panathinaikos, Rapid Bucharest and Saudi Arabia.
