    Burley disappointed by Boyd

    13 Oct 2008 - 07:50:09

Scotland coach George Burley has voiced his disappointment at striker Kris Boyd deciding to end his international career for the time being.

The 25-year-old Rangers star has become frustrated by a lack of opportunities and has vowed not to lay for his country again while Burley remains in charge.

Boyd has scored seven goals in 15 appearances for Scotland, but has made only six starts for his country.

A statement from Burley read: "I've spoken with Kris and he told me that he was disappointed not to play on Saturday or in the last couple of matches.

"He said that he did not want to be considered for future Scotland squads so that he can concentrate on his club career.

"It is disappointing that he has chosen to do this at a crucial time in our World Cup campaign, but it is his decision to make and I will, of course, respect it."

Boyd had earlier commented: "I will not be playing for George Burley again, but I hope to be back in a Scotland jersey again one day."
