Rangers manager Walter Smith will not risk Thomas Buffel again this season even though the Belgian star is close to a training return.
The 26-year-old midfielder has not played since January after having a knee operation but is about to step up his rehabilitation.
Smith told the Gers' official website: "Thomas is coming along well. He had the operation on his knee in Belgium and spent some time there recuperating.
"But he'll be back training with us at Murray Park later this week and continue his rehabilitation.
"It'll be next season, however, before he's playing again and back with us in the squad."
