Brown annoyed by disallowed goal

Tom Hateley handed the Steelmen the lead in the first half before Kris Boyd rescued a point for the Ibrox side with an equaliser 10 minutes from time.[LNB]But, in between those goals, Ross Forbes could also have had his name on the scoresheet when he helped a netbound Stephen Craigan effort over the line only to see the strike disallowed for offside.[LNB]Television footage suggested assistant referee John Gilmour made the wrong call and, although reluctant to criticise the match official, Brown did feel it cost his side maximum points.[LNB]He said: "I've always been an advocate of not criticising the officials so I won't do that - certainly not publicly. I've seen the TV evidence which would indicate the goal was okay.[LNB]"But the officials have got jobs to do and they do them honestly. Unfortunately we didn't get the goal, which I think would have finished the game because we were very comfortable at that point.[LNB]"I was told that both Craigan and Forbes were onside but I don't want to be a moaner and a complainer. You get some decisions and some you don't. We didn't get that one but we might get one in the next game. We just have to accept it."[LNB]Boyd - who made his first start since recovering from a double hernia operation - netted with just 10 minutes to go to rescue a point for a lacklustre Rangers side.[LNB]Brown added: "We've got to fault ourselves because we gifted the goal to Rangers. It was indecision between the goalie John Ruddy and Mark Reynolds.[LNB]"That's our fault and we can't blame anyone but ourselves for conceding the goal. You don't give Kris Boyd a chance like that and expect to get away with it."[LNB]When asked his opinion of the disallowed goal, Rangers boss Walter Smith pointed out that his own side also had a strike chalked off at the same venue back in November 2008 with that match also ending all square.[LNB]"They say the boy was onside," he said of Forbes' effort.[LNB]"But, if I can remember correctly we had one knocked off here before with Kris Boyd. Sometimes they go for you and sometimes they go against you. I think we would have won that game if we'd got it so it balances out."[LNB]The draw means Rangers now have an eight-point lead at the summit of the SPL, with Celtic's win over Hearts allowing them to edge closer to the title holders.[LNB]Smith added: "We are pleased to come back to level terms in the second half of the game and I thought on the balance of the game overall, it was probably the proper result.[LNB]"Ourselves and Motherwell have probably had the best record in the league over the last half-dozen games or so and we would expect a tough game."[LNB][LNB]
