Broadfoot set to lose fitness fight

Published: 17 Mar 2010 - 22:04:01

Broadfoot missed Sunday's Scottish Cup quarter-final against Dundee United after suffering a hamstring strain in training last Friday. It was hoped he would recover in time to face his former club at Hampden, but Ally McCoist has revealed the 25-year-old is almost certain to join fellow defender Madjid Bougherra on the sidelines. McCoist told Rangers TV: "It looks as though Broaders is struggling. He's been in the gym but it doesn't look as though he's going to make it and that's a real shame. "We'll look at him as the week goes on and give him as much time as possible to get fit." The injury is the latest to strike Broadfoot, who developed a serious foot problem last season. The full-back was sidelined for nine months with the injury after being sent off in the League Cup final defeat to Celtic. St Mirren v Rangers. Click here to bet.
