Kirk Broadfoot was simply happy to come through Thursday's friendly defeat aganist German minnows Sportfreunde Lotte without being in pain.[LNB] The defender played his first game for eight months as Rangers lost 1-0 to the team from one of the regional leagues below the third tier of German football.[LNB]Broadfoot has only played 30 first-team games for Rangers since first suffering the foot problem in the League Cup final defeat by Celtic in March 2009 so he was relieved to come through 90 minutes in Lotte last night.[LNB]"After so long on the sidelines with my injury, I was just delighted to be back playing and it's good to be involved again," the 26-year-old told rangers.co.uk.[LNB]"At this stage of the summer, our games are all about fitness and that's especially the case with me after the first half of the year."[LNB]Broadfoot, who is likely to start as a substitute when Rangers take on Bochum on Saturday, added: "It's all fine and well doing your rehab and getting back to training but it's nice to make the step up and start playing games.[LNB]"The more of them I get, the fitter I will become and I'm really happy to have come through the match without any problems. Now I'm looking forward to the next game."[LNB]The former St Mirren player was unconcerned by the defeat, branding it a "fitness exercise".[LNB]Manager Ally McCoist made seven changes at the break with a largely inexperienced side losing a goal to a back-post volley early in the second half.[LNB]"It was a pretty slow game and I don't think the pitch helped us too much but they didn't cause us too many problems," Broadfoot said.[LNB]"There was a mistake that allowed them to score but these things happen in your first game of the summer."[LNB]
